Tuesday Tails: Car Problems Solved-ish!

This weekend, LD and I were doing a lot of house projects. I mean tons! So, we weren’t able to spend as much time with the dogs as we would have liked. However, for these projects, we had to borrow my father-in-law’s Suburban in order to pick up some supplies that don’t fit in our cars. As we have been trying to bring Arccos on every car trip we can to get him more used to it, we decided to bring both dogs along on the hour trip to return the car.

The good news is that Arccos is no longer whining uncontrollably for the entire trip! We have also discovered a new way to get him to be quiet for longer periods of time: car activities. Like with a toddler, keeping him occupied while on a trip seems to make the whining largely go away. This time around we gave each dog a Himalayan Dog Chew for the trip. (They can get expensive, but the dogs only get them as special treats and we got several when there was a groupon for them a while back).

We are trying to mix up the activity every time, but we are struggling with figuring out activities for dogs that can be done in the car and are relatively low energy games. Do any dog owners have any ideas? How about any parents of toddlers? I can usually adjust toddler games for the dogs.

About Danielle Beranek

Life can get away from you when being young, married, and still fairly fresh out of college. Taking on a pet, student loans, going back to school, and soon a new house is enough to leave ones head spinning. For me, life is crazy, but only on the outside.
