When LD and I were researching which insurance to go with with LD’s new job, we were reminded of something that we often forget: insurances often partner up with different groups to give you discounts on a variety of different things. For example, LD’s insurance will reimburse us up to a certain amount for CSA (community supported agriculture) programs. We can also get discounts on everything from spa treatments to chiropractic work just for being members.
So, it begs to ask the question: are you getting your full discount? Insurance companies aren’t the only way to get discounts on items. Many companies have agreeements with cell phone providers and auto/home insurance providers to give you discounts off rates. My work also has a partnership that gives us discounts on pet insurance. Other programs such as AAA have discounts everywhere, but credit card companies also have the some of the same perks. If you are a member of anything (organization, credit card company, church, sam’s club), check to see what benefits come with it. You might be missing out on some extra savings.
Because LD’s new insurance company partnered with the lasik group I am going to, I will be getting a minimum of $800 off lasik. If that isn’t reason enough for you to check what discounts you’ve been missing, I don’t know what is!
