Getting Better at Sewing

A while ago, LD and I got curtains for our bedroom from target. They are these sheer soft linen things which we decided after two months, wasn’t really the look we were going for in our bedroom. So after returning all of the unopened curtains, I now have two blue and two grey curtains that are 50″ by 84″ that I have to figure out what to do with.

As you know, I am never one to waste perfectly usable items. I love the color of the blue ones so I am thinking about turning them into a dress for some of our summer weddings, but I have never patterned a dress before. Any sewing masters out there have any suggestions?

For anyone wondering, here are the curtains. I have successfully completed other basic sewing projects in the past, but have never been successful with real clothes. Here is the bag I made recently for a friend’s birthday that I am very proud of:

I am getting a lot better at sewing than I mentioned a while back. Seriously, if you want some comedy, go back and read that post. However, I still feel like a major novice and think I might have bigger dreams than I can possibly accomplish. However, with fabric that needs to get used or tossed, I can’t go too wrong, right? I guess as soon as I’m feeling better, I will dive in head first. Wish me luck!

Great bag. For someone who is new to sewing you should be proud. I come from a long line of professional seamstresses but alas I haven’t the skills – but I plan to change that.

    • I also come from a line of great seamstresses although not professional ones. My mom made my wedding dress! I have been working hard to get the skills, but I am not very patient when I compare myself to my mother or sister. If you want to do it, go for it!

Absolutely Danielle! It isn’t desire or motivation that stops me but priorities – other to do’s which first must be done. Thankyou for sharing 🙂
