Financial Friday: Extra Ways to Save Money on Your Purchases

First of all, if any of you have kids that LOVE the movie Frozen (or maybe you do) the soundtrack is free today on Google Play. I can’t seem to link you to the actual deal so click here for the slick deals page. Don’t worry, It’s a safe link.

Anyway, back to your regularly scheduled post, and yes, I am writing it while listening to Frozen. I have found several ways to save a little extra money recently and I am eager to share them with you! I know a lot of my blogging friends might already know about these tricks, but not everyone does.

1. Ebates.com

Ebates is great because it is a referral site. If you plan on buying anything online, stop at ebates first and see if they give you anything back for the website you plan to by from. For example, the other day they had 8% back on pet supplies from Amazon (I think now it’s 4%) but when we got dog food from Amazon, which is expensive, it was a nice return. It is also really simple to use, you can either add everything to your shopping cart as normal and then go to ebates to refer you back before checking out or you can go through ebates in the beginning.

2. Cardpool.com

If we know we are going to be getting something from a store but are waiting for a sale, we often go to cardpool.com to get a discounted gift card. I don’t trust a lot of sites like this, but we order only the physical cards which have a full guarantee. We most often get home depot cards from them for our home improvement projects and get them for 10% off. If you use them online, you can also get the ebates discounts.

3. Slickdeals.net

LD and I like to check Slickdeals for free music deals and deals on items we plan to buy anyway. As always with coupons and deals sites, I want to remind you to police yourself. You only buy what you were already planning on buying (or stuff you will use that is free like music).

About Danielle Beranek

Life can get away from you when being young, married, and still fairly fresh out of college. Taking on a pet, student loans, going back to school, and soon a new house is enough to leave ones head spinning. For me, life is crazy, but only on the outside.
