Well, life around the Beranek household is still a bit cruddy. Tasha and I are still sick. At least Tasha seems to be getting better. Of course, she had to get all this energy around the time I was feeling at my lowest with a fever. She wanted me to play. She begged me to play. She licked my hand in an attempt to get me to play. Trust me, there was no way I could play, but she had energy so she made it my problem.
In order to buy myself some time until LD (the only currently healthy one of the three of us) got home, I hide some treats and had her search for them. I cannot tell you how happy I was at that time that Tasha is not a scent hound. We once were playing hide and seek and I was having a conversation with my mom and she still couldn’t find me. No really, I am serious! So there I was feeling literally sicker than a dog, watching Tasha run around and trying to find 3 pieces of freeze-dried cheese for about 45 minutes, before she came back to me looking for more excitement. Is this what it will be like to stay home sick with a toddler?
I love my husband, but I don’t think I have ever loved him as much as when he walked in the front door yesterday. I swear angels were rejoicing and there was this angelic glow coming from behind him when he walked in that door (or maybe I was just that delirious?). Anyway, to go from being nudged, prodded, sighed at, jumped on, and violently snuggled with, to being not only left in peace, but also taken care of is like a gift from God. My wonderful man drained some of Tasha’s energy and then kept her occupied while he made us both a wonderful dinner. And then, he left her sleeping on the couch with me while he went out to get me a big thing of apple juice so I stay hydrated (and a giant cookie, but I think that’s more because he was craving it. It’s ok, though, he earned it!)
Hopefully, Tasha will still be feeling a bit better today, but after a long night’s sleep, I think I have a bit more energy today myself. Anyone have any suggestions on keeping a dog that has energy, but not as much as she thinks she does, occupied without much work? What would you do with a toddler? I might be able to convert that into a dog game. Any help you can give will earn you angel wings in my book!
